Alex Akushevich is a PhD student in Biostatistics at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, advised by Dr. Naim Rashid. He joined the Rashid Lab in Fall 2026.

His doctoral research is taking shape within the lab’s work on statistical and machine learning methods for cancer genomics, adaptive clinical trials, and precision oncology, in collaboration with clinicians at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
